This article contains spoilers for the game Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, the second love child between Nintendo and Omega Force, was released on November 20, 2020, giving Nintendo Switch owners a hack-and-slash spin-off to the beloved The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild game. Honed as a prequel, Age of Calamity gives players the ability to control and experience the stories of characters that were little more than spiritual guides to Link in the Breath of the Wild adventure.
Considering the popularity of Breath of the Wild and said spiritual guides, Age of Calamity was a much sought-after game. Most of the characters from Breath of the Wild were only seen during Link’s memories or flashbacks in Breath of the Wild. Age of Calamity fleshed them out, giving the gamer much more backstory as well as a chance to experience the giant battle that was the catalyst to Breath of the Wild. …
Hair up, face over the toilet bowl, I hadn’t been sick in such a way in a few years. Although I couldn’t see her, I could hear our little dog — a mostly chihuahua and mini-schnauzer mix — whining from the bathroom’s threshold before darting in to paw at my leg while I was ill.
She was content to cuddle with me while I lied pathetically on the couch after that bout in the bathroom.
While it’s been a few years since then, and our little dog is a bit older, the amount of empathy that she exhibits hasn’t changed too much. She’ll huff at us when she’s annoyed with our shenanigans if she doesn’t join said shenanigans herself. She’ll share her hiding spot under the couch during fireworks or thunderstorms with the cat despite the pair never wanting to cuddle together otherwise. …
Wonder Woman 1984 is the sequel to 2017’s big Wonder Woman hit. Both star Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, and were directed by Patty Jenkins. With how acclaimed the original movie was, the sequel was highly anticipated by many.
The year 2020 happened with a pandemic that ravaged the theater industry and WW84 was released last week both in theaters and on the streaming service HBO Max. My family and I took a chance on the streaming service and were excited to finally watch the sequel the day after Christmas.
Not great, not in the same category as the original Wonder Woman, but I liked it. …
The new year is right around the corner, and with that comes the mentality of starting over, of setting and achieving new goals, of a beginning. Considering 2020 was a bit of a lost year with the pandemic, many folks are hopeful for 2021 with the approval of multiple vaccines against Covid-19.
This time last year, I had grand plans for 2020. I was going to write more. I was going to read more. My big goal, though, was to further improve my visual art skills, whether that be by traditional drawing, painting, or digital art.
When creating art, I’ve heard that the finished image that we imagine is usually a couple of years ahead of our actual skills. It’s a good incentive to keep improving, right? …
I remember when PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds — or PUBG — was released in the summer of 2016. This game seemed to usher in an era of the battle royale genre where players duke it out to be the last one standing. Notable stand-outs in this genre are Fall Guys, the limited-time Super Mario Bros. 35, and of course Fortnite.
Epic Games’s Fortnite was initially released in 2017 and is still going strong. With three different modes — one a traditional battle royale, another a creative mode, and a third a cooperative survival mode — spread out amid today’s current consoles, with the expectation that Fortnite will join the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, Fortnite doesn’t look like it’ll be going anywhere anytime soon. …
This past NaNoWriMo, I finished my challenge of writing 50k words in the month about a week early. Generally, I’m typing away one word at a time until the very end of the month to reach my goal as I sometimes hit a wall in between weeks two and three.
Recently, however, I discovered word crawls in the forums.
A word crawl is a narrative-style challenge designed to give you small goals to make your word count soar. …
There’s snow on the ground, and yet my family is in contact with the organization that handles rental properties by our preferred lake a few states away.
Hey, 2020 has been crazy. We’re allowed to be optimistic about going on vacation next summer.
With that said, our usual cabin that we rent will be unavailable in 2021. As such, we’ve been working with the rental company to find another cottage that will have enough room for the family. The company has been wonderful, sending over potential matches, but in a recent email acknowledged that most of the available cottages that do accept pets only accept one dog. Within our family, we have two dogs — a chihuahua mix and a beagle — who come with us whenever we go away. …
The next Super Smash Brothers fighter will be revealed at tonight’s Game Awards. Considering I have not turned on the game since before the global pandemic, I am more curious…
Nintendo has conditioned me to expect some sort of Pokemon game every November. Every once in a while, there are years that are skipped in favor of other games for the holiday season, but November still remains the month of Pokemon in my mind.
Considering the heightened sense of anxiety around these times due to the stark contrast of wishing to stay away from people due to the pandemic and wanting to see loved ones due to the holidays, the Pokemon games are a welcomed staple in my life at this time. …
One of the only “good” things about the pandemic is how many shelter animals are being adopted. Aside from the proven therapeutic and benefits of having a dog in the family, the dog will get a loving home, so it’s a win-win situation. The Pandemic Puppy Boom has helped the adoptions and sales of dogs soar during this time, and here’s hoping that those who chose to look to dogs for comfort during quarantine understand the lifelong commitment of caring for a new furry member of the family.
Numbers of COVID-19 infections are on the rise again around the world, and folks who may not have adopted during the earlier quarantine periods may find themselves wondering if now is the time to adopt a pandemic puppy. …
